The first step to making a scrapbook page is putting down your canvas — that piece of cardstock upon which you’ll build your page. The canvas size will depend upon the decisions you make about album size and format. There are a variety of ways to fill that blank canvas, and the best way to get started is with scrapbook page sketches or digital templates.
Scrapbook page sketches tell you what size photos to work with and how to place them and other pieces of paper, title, and journaling.Get It Scrapped! has a large gallery full of page sketchesthat you can print.
Digital templates can be used to quickly make a digital scrapbook page. Many of our sketches include templates in Photoshop format.
Creating your own composition is another alternative. As you make more and more pages you’ll get a better idea of what looks good and what works well for your photos and subjects. There are many design considerations you can learn and think about as you make pages including: alignment, balance, white space, and flow. We’ll continue to add articles here that cover these topics. You can also check out “Page Parts” and “Page Design” categories in the right sidebar to see what’s in the archives.
