So here is a stupid question - If today I do a layout and give myself a point for that and then get 1 bonus point for using more than 3 pics (I just took it from the list on the original post) = 2 points.

If new rules get added say in a couple of weeks, can you then go back to the layouts from week one to see if you followed any of the rules posted later?

Also, do we have to upload to the gallery to earn the points?

These two ladies were right. Once your points are recorded you can't go back and add more when new rules are added.

Thanks for the help answering questions!!

Quick question -- I've tried but can't seem to get the blinkie into my signature.  Anyone out there know how to do it on a Mac?

OK, one more question -- How do we know when rules go from "suggested" to "accepted"?  And for these first 3 days I've just been using the original basic rules, but if I were to go out today and see another run that applies to TODAY's layout, can I go back in and add the points?

I'm really having fun using the rules as prompts to expand my horizons in terms of "using stuff" and making old stuff work in new designs.  This is RIGHT UP MY ALLEY!  I am using this exercise to push myself in many ways, one of which is to try new techniques and build my own design style -- I find I do well using sketches and lifting others' designs, but not so much when I go freeform.  I'd like my freeform to become more sophisticated and I'm learning SO much from all the inspiration here!

When a rule is added to the official Rules List in Post 1 of the Rules thread, it's official. Anything NOT in that Post 1 post is not a rule.

You can add up the points from the rules every week, only for that week. So by the end of this week you need to turn In Your point total on the leader board. Once you post them there you can't go back and add more points if we add a new challenge that applies to it. Does that make sense?

Thanks, CraftyMeggie!  I understand.  I went to the first post and found the additional rules and used those for the layout I did afterwards.  I haven't gone back to others I did this week -- might do that but I might decide not to....

Any idea on the blinkie on the Mac?

I don't have a Mac, I didn't realize it was a different process. Let me ask Debbie.

I just noticed that my avatar photo has disappeared, and most of the other avatars are showing up as little x's.  Is there a way to reload the avatar photo?  I tried to do that with "Edit profile" pane, but after browsing for my profile avatar, I couldn't seem to get it to upload.  Any suggestions for what I can do?

Yah.  That's b/c one of the GIS hosts PM'd me to let me know I needed to link my profile pic through Gravitar.  Tried it and it worked!  I see you, too!

I put a note to that effect on the Peas board.

I edited the one from last year and it's in my siggie. Feel free to grab it for your siggie. I think all you need to do is right click and get the image address and then you can update your siggie.

I went to Gravatar and I can't make heads or tails of it.  I am coming off the flu, but I don't have a Word Press account -- so I need to sign up for that first?

Just try uploading a new profile photo. That should work, too.

I tried -- it looks like it's uploading, but even after I save, it doesn't show up.

Quick question from me. If say one of the rules is to use enamel dots can I only claim the point once or for every page I do with enamel dots?

For every page that you make using enamel dots!

I'm seeing your profile pic now . . . does that mean you figured it out?

One point per rule, per page is how we usually do it (so if the rule is mixed media... using more than one medium still only gets you one point ie. I used mist and paint still only one point for that rule for that page) but if you use it on every page you get one point for each page.

RE: Avatars. Eitehr use Gravatar OR give it a few days.

As I mentioned elsewhere we don't use these forums anymore --- and had wanted to do this challenge on Facebook, but a few people emailed me for several months advocating for this venue.

Anyways. Over the weekend, I got an SSL certificate installed for the site. It takes a while for browsers to recache and catch up to the fact that images are being served from https instead of http.

FOR EXAMPLE: I can see my own profile pic over on my laptop . . . but not on my desktop. So I think it is a cacheing thing.

These forums need upgrading and I did spend money and time on it in February but there are a bunch of problems and they let me know that once they are updated there will be a lot that "breaks" and needs fixing -- especially in the look and feel area. I didn't want to start things off here with that risk.

SO . . . I'm grateful if you make it through with these odds and ends. And I do think if you give it several days, the indexing bots and browsers will catch up with images.

And I do not know how to to a blinkie from a mac.
